Our Commitment to Awareness

The Foundation's Mission
The Hayze Walks Foundation began with a heartfelt mission to raise awareness about glaucoma, inspired by the story of Hayze, our founder's son. Since October 2025, based in Philadelphia, PA, we have dedicated ourselves to organizing 5k walk/run events that bring communities together to support families and fund research for better treatments.
Hayze's Story

Hayze Randle Story
Prior to his diagnosis we had been visiting the doctors regularly regarding his eye and no one helped us . On October 17th 2025 has was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma at just 4 months old. An infants normal eye pressure is a 10 while an adults is 20. Hayze left eye pressure was a 42. October 29th 2025 was the date of his first surgery. The doctors had performed a Trabeculotomy in his left eye. Which is a surgical procedure that helps reduce pressure in the eye by opening the eyes drainage system to allow the eye to drain better. On December 9th 2025 the doctors decided that due Hayze consistent elevated pressure that another surgery was necessary. On December 11th 2025 Hayze undergone another surgery. Doctors put a plastic shunt device inside of his left eye. At this time Hayze is 6 months currently attending a medical daycare, taking multiple doses of eye drops daily and regularly visiting Chop ophthalmology every 1-2 weeks. The goal is to start small and build up a foundation in our son’s name. We also want to bring awareness to our community and people all over the world because congenital glaucoma is not a common disability. With our son just being diagnosed in October we have had short time to start this first walk however we have to start somewhere. With January being glaucoma awareness month we feel this is the best time to promote awareness. This year is small within hopes of next year being at a bigger venue and with a bigger turnout. We have to start somewhere and we are taking the chance starting here. We will fundraise , continue to promote and continue to educate those who are unfamiliar with Congenital glaucoma and how it affects one’s sight.
